Welcome to earlyconciliation-advice.co.uk. This website dedicated to providing advice to employers on how to manage the ACAS Early Conciliation process introduced in April 2014. Our specialist service is managed by the employment law team at Winston Solicitors (UK) Limited.

What is “Early Conciliation” ?

In a nutshell it will be a legal requirement for prospective claimants (e.g. current or former employees) to notify ACAS of their intention to bring a claim to the employment tribunal before they can submit an ET1 claim form.

ACAS will then be able to offer help to both parties to see if the issues can be resolved without having to go to an employment tribunal. Please note conciliation is voluntary and there is no legal requirement on either party to enter into it.

ACAS is a publicly funded independent organisation.

Why has Early Conciliation been introduced 

Over the years there has been a shift towards resolution before litigation and in light of this EC has been introduced to see if a resolution can be reached pre-claim to save time and costs going forward for everyone.
